Mikaela Hyakuya was a human child who lived in Japan before the Apocalypse. He was raised in the Hyakuya Orphanage along with his best friend, Yuichiro Hyakuya. When the Apocalypse occurred, Mikaela and the other children were taken in by the vampires and forced to live as livestock. Mikaela eventually escaped from the vampires with Yuichiro and a group of other children, but he was betrayed by Ferid Bathory and left behind. Mikaela was turned into a vampire himself, but he vowed to one day get revenge on Ferid and save Yuichiro.
